About us

ELLERWERK's success story began with the spin drier.

In 1890, Otto Ellerbrock founded the machine factory and copper forge Otto Ellerbrock Maschinenfabrik und Kupferschmiede, which among other things, produced rotary washing machines. Over the years, its machines, which initially were only used by Hamburg's industrial companies, and later, world- wide, in large commercial laundry facilities and on ships, earned the firm an excellent name.

His son, Rudolf Heinrich Ellerbrock, took over the company in 1916 and extended the product line with wood-working machines. He also expanded international business. In 1945, at the end of World War II and after total destruction of the plant, he was faced with a new start.

The re-erection of ELLERWERK on the old site was also the beginning of a new era: Production of industrial centrifuges.

Under the leadership of Rudolf Ellerbrock, the founder's grandson, who took over the company in 1956, ELLERWERK qualified world-wide as a leading manufacturer of powerful centrifuges of high quality. Over 8,000 vertical centrifuges, horizontal peeler centrifuges, chip deoiling centrifuges, universal centrifuges, and dip-coating centrifuges have since been delivered to 35 countries in all five continents.

Since July 1, 2008 Messrs ELLERWERK has become part of the HEINKEL group, which feels obliged to the tradition of the company. ELLERWERK will continue to offer innovative and high in quality products and will be a first address for solving problems in the field of solid-liquid separation.

The experience and know-how of constructing centrifuges for more than 100 years will also in future be continued by well-versed ELLERWERK-team in Hamburg. Additionally the products of ELLERWERK will be supported and serviced by HEINKEL branches throughout the world.
